I am an engineer, compooter though, so purely a guess eminating from the dim reaches of Chemestry101. The thermal qualities should be the same, the strength qualities should be radically different from the process of manipulating the billet in the rolling and tempering processes the AL undergoes.

I think the heat transfer should be the same as you have not changed the electron structure of the material, just how it's aligned.
