Thanks for your constructive criticism. I know I went a little overboard
last summer when I was temporarily laid off and had a lot of extra time on
my hand. I've only posted a few times on the subject since then. I'm not
shilling for Sirius, but I should be able to make an occasional OT post
about something I think might be of interest to fellow listmembers. Others
do it all the time. It does sound like a sales job at time, but I like the
service and I suspect you like your XM radio also. There are many others
who use this list to sell products that go in their vanagons that are of no
interest to many of the listmembers. I've bought some of them, I don't read
most. I'm not trying to sell anything, just trying to provide some
information to those who might be interested in the topic. There are
millions of Elvis fans, and some of them drive vanagons and also like
football. They don't have to get a Sirius radio to think the concept of
Elvis radio or hearing their favorite team while camping in the middle of
nowhere is interesting. Several listmembers have gotten free Sirius radios
based on information I have provided. I've gotten all three of mine free
from different vendor employee only deals I've learned about and I felt it
was a deal others might be interested it. I've gotten nothing from that
other than some thank you emails from several listmembers who have gotten
free radios from the same deals. No one told Sirius when they ordered their
free radio to send caverat his commission check. Sirius might actually be
pissed because those deals weren't open for everyone, only employees of
stores who sell the radios. I will certainly tone down the sales pitch if I
post a future OT note on this subject, but the tone is based on some
enthusiasm for something I enjoy and not anything else.
I guess this makes post number 40. I didn't know we tracked things like
that. If you added in the "appropriate" posts I use to do under my old
email address before I even knew Sirius existed, the ratio wouldn't seem
anywhere nearly as bad as your astute observation has shown. I will admit
though, based only on this subject it's worse that I realized. My
apologies to those who aren't at all interested in the subject.
Believe it or not, I actually got an inquiry a few days ago from a
listmember who came across an archive post I made on the subject who wanted
to get a radio for his van for an extended trip he had planned. I hadn't
posted on this subject in a while, but when the Elvis radio announcement
came out two days later, I figured I would pass that on. Some listmembers
are actually interested in it, but I do agree my posts do sound too much
like a sales job. Sorry about that.
