Kyle,

Don't let it concern you much, it sounds like you've solved your problem. If you are idling at 850, and you *don't* experience a serious hesitation when starting up from a dead stop, then your throttle switch is doing it's thing.

For those that are curious, the 1985 1.9 with manual trans has a one-year-only single-switch setup. You can't see the switch from above (it's buried beneath the plate at the bottom of the throttle body), but you can get at the adjustment screws that come through the top of the plate. There's an adjustment procedure in the Bentley.

Mine was bogging down when starting from a dead stop because the switch was not opening when the throttle was pressed, leaving me trying to drive while the idle stabilization circuit is trying to keep the idle at 850... I "mis-adjusted" the mechanism, and now I don't always return to idle, but I can pull away from a stop sign without hesitation. I

've been running this way for about eight months without any ill effects (though I burn more gas than necessary if I'm stuck in traffic). I expect to get in there and clean the throttle body, cam and switch (or replace as much as necessary) any day now.

Tim
