all,
my 1.9l started doing all kinds of nutty stuff, my wiring was cool because i just
redid it not to long ago. It would flicker at high speeds then after that just stayed on
lucky for me my buzzer does'nt come on just the light ;) anyway I hit pep boyes for
a switch they sell me this nascar knock brand that turns out to be poop! get this after
putting this in it just stays on, * great * I end up getting the correct VW part and not
some knock off and waaaaalaa i'm okie now. ( so much for tring to get non VW stuff
at the local flaps.

I've lived through this myself.
Check the wire that goes to the oil pressure sensor located in the
engine case near the bottom of the crankshaft pully. Usually when that
belt goes, it breaks the wire or separates the connection to the oil
pressure sensor.
Good Luck.
