Of course there is the "throw a rope up to the nearest tree branch, hoist a block and tackle method", then you can lift the top with a sea kayak, a mountain bike and a roof top box full of climbing gear AND suba gear inside. But you have to pay attention! Last time I did this I lifted the entire van off the ground and then since the block and tackle wasn't directly overhead, the van swung toward me, knocking me over and making me drop the rope. The van came crashing to the ground blowing out all 4 tires. Since then, I realized why one needs tires with reinforced sidewalls. ; ) John On Mon, 05 Jul 2004 22:37:43 +0000 mtbiker62@comcast.net writes: Jeez .... all this time I thought everyone relaeased the top latch, climbed up on the luggage rack and lifted the "lid" from the outisde. My head won't fit in there .... from there, John :) sorry ... couldn't resist ... as silly as this is. bob |
