Hi Michael !

Wet sanding is a horrible job, if itīs to be followed by show paint itīs even worse and if the paint job is to be done by a pro itīs a real PITA ! If you want a HQ paintjob let the guy do all the job ! Then he canīt blame you for doing a bad job and thereby avoid repainting if youīre not satisfied ! Most painters Iīve talked to wonīt accept spraying a customer finished car but will redo that job anyway and then youīve been sanding it down for nothing :-( If your job is the front end I kinda have the same suggestion as someone on that "crash pics" thread, finish it off yourself and if youīre not happy with the result, buy a bra to avoid further damage and hide the paintjob ......

Hi all,

How do you properly sand off old dead paint and rust spots to prepare for a new paintjob? I have heard you use a water hose and "wet sand," but I don't know what type or grade of sandpaper you are supposed to use. Are you supposed to use multiple grades of paper in a magic order? The difference in price quotes from the paint shops for just painting and both sanding and painting is enormous!

Thanks, Michael Townsend
