The freon has likely leaked out.

You can perform the conversion to R134 yourself with a kit you buy at Trak Auto, or AutoZone, or whatever FLAPS is near you - its about $35.

The experts claim you need to replace the dryer, I have found this not to be the case.

When you do the conversion, add in a can of leak sealer and that will hopefully stop the new freon from leaking out.

From what I gather to get it to work I might need to convert is anyway which sounds very expensive!

I want to drive from Seattle to Salt Lake in August - might just need to do it at night!

Would also like to collect some references for mechanics out that way..
