Extremely likely that your leak is from the valve cover gasket.

There is NORMALLY no contact with the push rod tube seals for a routine valve job.....

I would bet that the valve cover gasket isn't seated properly in the valve cover. I sure hope that they used new ones and not just shoved the old ones back in too....

Hello, I Just got my 81 Vanagon back from the shop where I asked them to do a valve adjustment. They did and it runs fine but I found today that oil is dripping from somewhere over the right (if your looking at the back of the van) heater box. Over night this added up to a spot the size of a pie plate. Is this likely the valve cover gasket? Or those push rod tubes that seem to go all the time? I'm going to take it back Monday of course, but want some leverage if them tell me it was nothing to do with the valve job. Any advice from the pros? Thanks, James in Yellowknife
