Seems to me, the heavy components in a Westy are the bed frame and the appliances. Cheers," Jeff Ya, the top is harder to handle due to it's size than it is heavy, but it also sits higher than everything else. Also, the water if you carry any, can add almost 100 lbs to that side of the van. I like the feel of my van when it's "camping-ready" better than empty.
