Different car from the balky shifter question posed earlier and answered so well: The rubber boot that covers the ball-and-socket shift joint (back at the transmission) has deteriorated. I went by my shop, who sent me to the dealer, who sent me home. It doesn't appear in ETKA, but it looks like a piece of bicycle inner tube might do. What do others do? Also, what type of transaxle lube should I use? I don't think I can get redline around here, so what's an acceptable choice? Thanks, Jim PS I'd appreciate an answer as soon as you can spare the time, if you have one. I'm going out of town for a few days this afternoon and will suspend list traffic--I don't want to miss replies. |
