I live in Salt Lake and it's a pretty arid climate. Like an average of 10-15% humidity annually or somehting like that. I got the cotton one (3 window) because of that factor. Apparently also much more compliant when attaching it, compared to the synthetic, which is "stiffer", but is also alot more mildew-proof, for NW moist climates. Mine was pretty easy to put on ... with the help of one of our local helpful, loyal vanagonites, John, who helped me take the top off, which made it much easier.
