Hello to all you ***wonderful*** people!!! I have been away for far, far too long and I have missed you all so, so ***very*** much (even you Terry K., you dear cad you). I am finally back where I should have stayed: at the beach with my Sincro (Yes, Matthew, I ***know*** it is a SYNCRO but, considering all the ***wild and crazy*** times I have had in it, I call it my SINcro). The bar is fully stocked, the grill is at the ready and the linen closet is stuffed with fresh towels, so, as they say in the Big Easy, Laissez les bon temps rouler! My heartfelt thanks goes out to all the dear, dear people who helped me find a technician to convert the Sincro's sunroof to power operation. It works ***wonderfully*** and it has been a Godsend. Before Jonathan DeLoni installed the Steppard motor mechanism, I thought I would surely become an asymmetrical Popeye of sorts from ***all*** the endless cranking which was required to open and close the sunroof. Being at the beach always reminds me of a ***wonderful*** summer I spent as a boy with my mother's family in France. To go to the beach we would use Uncle René's Citroën beach car. The most remarkable thing about that little jitney was that it had rattan seats. Between the sand and the wet bathing suits, rattan is the ***ideal*** seat material for a beach car and I would like very, very much to have a set of them installed in my Sincro. I have approached several automotive seating specialist regarding such a modification with little success. One particularly ***sour*** soul even told me to try Pier 1 Imports! I just know the Vanagon List members can solve ***any*** problem, so, where can I find rattan seats for my van? Thank you one and all, Pinky |
