sounds like a logical disclamer to me. ever wander around the local big box
shopping center and look at trailer hitches? you'll find them to be very rusty
in the "rust belt". thats because trailer hitches are mild steel and powder
coated. compare frame rails on the same trucks that have super rusty trailer
hitches and you will see that the painted frame rails are fairing much better.
the run of the mill powder coat is junk. its for the cheap people that think
that shinney paint is the most important thing in the world.
if john used good industrial or automotive primer and paint on these the cost
would be way to high for most customers to stomach. so he offers powder coat
and covers his ass by telling you that you really have to baby it because
powder coat has no creep resistance. one of the reasons that he offers them
without paint is probably so that people that want to spend the money on real
paint don't have to strip off the powder coat first. getting powder coat off
is a major pita by the way. just my way to many years dealing with the
coatings industry two cents :).
