Volks,

Had a blast last week in Yosemite/Tuolumne with the van.

http://tinyurl.com/6ewcx Syncro & HalfDome http://tinyurl.com/4gxeu Parked at the Meadows http://tinyurl.com/6d562 worn out! :-) http://tinyurl.com/6o38n Sunset from above the Wawona Tunnel

We saw probably 20 other vanagons along the way, and I chatted with a few of the owners.. One guy actually from Tucson AZ had a nearly identical (cleaner and lower milage than mine!) 90 syncro.. amazing, there are still a few out there.

Hello Les, (if you're reading this.. I think you're still on the road though thru summer!)

The universal vanagon wave seems to be the 'peace' sign or 'thumbs up' ;-) could start another thread here I suppose?

Used the 4wd to back out of a steep campsite (I pulled in too far) the rear wheels dug in, so I pulled the decoupler knob, moved back forward a bit, then just reversed right out! Very cool..

(my wife says that I was lucky.. I told her that luck had nothing to do with it! ;-)

Only real complaint was the marginal cooling/AC system.. we had to keep it under 65mph on the way back across the desert (Indio to Phoenix) to keep the A/C from cycling off and sweating us out. One in 'balmy' (110 or so yesterday) Phoenix, no amout of slowness would help.. (uuugh say hello to monsoon season!)
