Subject: SOLVED: Squeaking Wheels When Brakes Not Applied
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Volks, I'm posting this solution, although I'm not exactly sure of what fixed it, for archival purposes and also to let folks know I was able to fix the maddening squeaking in my front brakes. I made sure I had logged over 100 miles to first see if the squeak would settle in on it's own. I also realized that only the passenger side was squeaking and the driver's side was perfectly quiet. I enjoy driving in my Westy so much and mostly use it for camping excursions. Therefore although the squeak was a relatively minor nuisance, it was driving me insane.

This morning I pulled the new OEM pads I had put in and lathered on an extra heaping portion of anti-squeak goo and reinstalled everything. I also used a can of that pressurized air stuff, which is normally used for cleaning electronic equipment, and clean all of the dust and gunk away from the braking system.

I just took it for a 10 mile test drive and to my excitement, no squeak! One of the pads looked to have some weird wear on it, which I'm assuming where the squeaking was originating from.

Anyway, thank you to everyone who posted ideas and recommendations.

Happy Camper, Josh
