I agree with all your comments on the Vanagon Camper model (non-GL) with the following exceptions:

The '87 Camper model has different type of upholstery that wears much better than the velour upholstery that came in the '85 and '86 models.

Also, my '87 Camper did not come with a tachometer - only the GL trim level vans came standard with a tachometer. If you find a Camper model with a tach, it was either optioned from the dealer or the entire instrument panel has been replaced. You can't just add a tach to this instrument panel without replacing the foil board and the clear plastic gauge cover.
