Interesting, and note they, like other conversion vendors, continue this unproven assertion: " Note: All Vanagon conversions require the use of a new, raised rear deck (included). This is needed to accommodate the vertical mounting system used on our kits, which allows for the use of hydraulic engine mounts, thus preventing unpleasant and troublesome vibration and noise. "
Frank G has shown that hydraulic mounts can be used with the 55 degree engine angle (stock diesel). I think the vibration canard is raised to support the choice of an upright mounting angle and subsequent raised rear deck and not from any study or experimentation. Alistair
