Simon, Some Vanagon driver's are their own lowering kits. On the serious side, I have H7R springs on my 87 GL. Front is down about 3 inches lower than the early vans. About two inches lower than the Carats. Rears are an inch taller. The resulting rake is better for crosswind resistance as weight is slightly biased forward compared to stock. However, if you are the aforementioned self-lowering Vanagon driver you may find the drive uncomfortable. Fat wheels will give you fenderitis. I have 15X8's in front.
