Hi Jeff, I had similar experience with a new pump after about two years and 20,000 miles. Lived with the random coolant loss for about a year until the weeping turned into a small puddle of coolant on the driveway. Replaced for peace of mind. As an aside, this pump was about half the price of the pump I bought three years ago from the same dealer here in Canada. Dealer was a bit vague trying to explain the differences in prices. Your experience of a re-main begs the question..... is the pump new or rebuilt? My dealer said new, just a re-main sticker for getting into the country at a lower duty rate or something. Hmmmm. >(FWIW the VWOA water pump I got from VW was from Italy--I think it said >remanufactured in Italy and went for about $110 for the part from what I remember. >Remember when VW parts were made in germany and lasted?) regards Phil Z.
