Subject: Symptoms of a failing air flow sensor?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1

Hey All, with my new engine and tranny install completed.. the van has been running great for about a month. But i took a trip to the beach last week and noticed two things. One is.. when running along at say 55 i could feel the van ever so slightly cutting in and out. Not much.. but just a little.. and this seems to happen at higher speeds. Second is.. the last couple of days it seems to be getting worse and last night.. when i punched the van to pull out.. it wanted to kinda stall a little. Seems to want to do this when under heavy load. What are the symptoms of a air flow sensor getting bad? I am leaning more towards a fuel pump. The pump is original and has 167,000 miles. I know on the inline fours.. you usually get about 130,000 miles or so per pump. I am going to go through the air flow sensor test tonight.. that's easy. And i could go through the fuel pressure/fuel flow rate test.. but i have found that test not to be a clear cut answer to tell if the pump is going bad. Any thoughts on this one? thanks all, jesse 89 carat
