Distillation - waer is converted to steam, leaving all minerals behind, then the steam is condensed back to a liquid state, which is now free of any impurities. This makes distilled water the best choice over de-ionized water. There are many filtering sytems available that clean up water very well, and make it potable and useable for most other applications, but this still does not achieve the same purity standard as distilled water.
