The filter to use for this is:

VW 133 133 511, Bosch 71013, Bosch Long 0450 901 005

Other aftermarket numbers are Wix 33274, Fram G3743

This same filter fits Beetles w/FI 75-79, Bay Windows w/FI 75-79.

Buy a few from Bus Depot, they're the least expensive there for the long run. I change mine every third Oil Change. If they're in there too long, they can clog over time and the fuel pump starts whining away.

As has been discussed alot here and demonstrated by personal experience, retrofitting a fuel filter before the pump in a '91 Westy is a fine idea. The question is, "Which filter?". The stock fuel line between fuel tank and pump is 11 mm. Filters suggested for the retrofit by several vendors (that participate in the listserv) and those I've seen in LAPS all have 7 mm ports. Although a reducer-hose-filter-hose-increaser-hose-pump solution is possible, that's not very elegant. There must be a filter with 11 mm ports out there that would be a drop-in solution. Do any of you know which one that might be?

Thanks,

Drew
