No, for some of us it's not being afraid of change.
Some of us CANT STAND the stench of them...
I'm allergic to diesel fumes. It makes my sinuses and
eyes burn, and makes me feel nauseous and VERY irritable
even in small quantity.
There's nothing in the world more vile than being behind
a rolling roadblock diesel that's struggling up an 8%
grade at 7000 feet and belching a thick black cloud of
poison.
That's one of the reasons for having a subaru motor is
so I can PASS those friggin things....
I think at the very least they should be forced to meet the
same smog requirements as gas engines.

Please note that I have no problem with the diesel
engine itself... it has a lot to recommend it.
It's the damned petroleum based diesel fuel that just
wrecks my sinuses and makes me feel like stomping the
life out of something just for amusement...
I've been around veggie oil burning diesels, and they
don't have that effect on me at all.

It's been suggested that it's the sulpher in the diesel
exhaust that I have such an adverse reaction to.
I don't know... but I know I hate it beyond compare.
