Blue is the alternator 'idiot' light - if it is still connected to the
alternator on the other end, it will go to ground when the alternator is
producing current.
Black is 12V when the key is on - probably went to the old CCV heater.

Subject: Desperate For Immediate Wiring Help
Howdy All,
Emergency question here. Working on wiring in the engine compartment of my
'87 GL.
I'm doing an engine conversion and I need to get some wires sorted out ASAP.
If you open the joint box cover, you will find several large "conduits" with
multiple wires coming out. Where they enter the joint box there is a sort of
"D" shaped grommet. There are many wires that come out of this conduit. Most
of them go to a white round connector. However, there are two other wires
that we can't figure out what they do. They come out of this same sheathing
as the wires going to the round connectors.
There are two wires in question. One is blue and has a yellow female
connector. Anyone know what this wire does, or where it is connected at
either end?
The other wire in question comes from the came conduit. It is black and also
has a yellow female connector on it. Any idea what this wire does, or where
it is connected at either end?
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.
I have pictures of the joint box that I can e-mail if you need to see what I
am talking about.
Help! Please!
Cheers,
Bruce
