Subject:      repacking left axel, perhaps do it when you do your slave

I repacked my right axel when a tranny leak needed a
new seal two years ago.   Did my left this weekend.
Looks to me that the clutch slave cylinder would be an
easy reach with the right axel out.   May want to
consider repacking right axel if  you are doing the
clutch slave.
   Some insight on repacking either side is leave the
axel clips in place and boots in place when possible.
Clean the axels ends, removing the six balls and outer
cage from each end of each axel.  When repacking,
looking at the outside of the axel, align two closest
spaces of the inner cage to two far away spaces of the
outer cage inserting the balls into the greased caged
areas.   After getting the last of the six balls in on
a side, secure the boot to the end of the axel with a
bolt and nut until you have finished the other side.
Insert all axel bolts into the boot axel assembly
before returning the axel to the back of the van.
Good for 50k or when boot or seal failure requires
servicing and maybe when you need to do the clutch
slave.   regards gary
