Joe,

Hate to suggest anything you may find unethical, immoral, or illegal, but you could call your insurance agent and simply say, "It was this way when I came out of the store." Of course, this way your insurance takes the hit. No good deed goes unpunished, eh?

My van has been a target for hit-and-run drivers a couple times. Inusrance covered it each time. Uhhh, yes. It actually happened while I was away. Honest.
