Subject: What is this "extra" part? (see photo)
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" ; format="flowed"

I helped a friend transplant an engine into an 84 california westy. The donor vehicle was an 84 Vanagon from the Northeast.

The engine from the donor vehicle has this extra doohicky mounted in the front passenger side of the engine compartment.

Does anyone know what this part is and what it's for? (the ceramic thing with vacuum hoses and two electrical terminals on it)
