I have the cruise in my 89. In my recent to find a speed sensor to use with my GPS I found the cruise sensor. It is right at the speedo cable that attached to the instrument cluster. You can see it at plain sight as soon as you remove the plastic cover on the dash. I didn't check to see if it is reed swtich or hall effect. Give the era I suspect it is likely reed also for the reason of cost. I haven't hook up the GPS yet other wise I can tell you the pulses per rev. Hope this help. - Vince -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] On Behalf Of Steve Delanty Sent: Friday, July 30, 2004 7:03 PM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: Factory cruise control
Can someone tell me what years the factory cruise control was offered? Is the speed sensor in the speedometer just a reed switch that closes to ground 4 times per revolution? Or is it something fancier? (Hall effect?) Thanks! Steve '86 Westy "Escape Pod" '73 Beetle "ain't got a name yet" |
