About 5 years ago, before my VW days, I drove from Seattle to Albuquerque. I had planned to stop just past SLC and got off the highway at one of the southernmost exits (sorry I don't remember which one). I didn't have any plan so I stopped by a gas station and asked the kid working where I could camp for free. He gave me directions to an area just E of SLC right by a river. The spot was beautiful with wild sage growing everywhere! Anyway, you just might want to ask a local when you get there. Hurley Sent: Thursday, August 05, 2004 8:45 AM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: More Salt Lake City Well, I might be crazy but I'm going to drive my van from Seattle to Salt Lake City on Monday. My plan is to hopefully avoid the heat since I never did figure out the airconditioning (like where does it connect in the back?) Someone mentioned camping in side canyons while I'm at this trade show. I searched online for camping and found a few spots up Cottonwood Canyon and at the KOA. Now I'm debating bringing my dog which might put me in the KOA, or I can leave her behind which might be smarter.... But - the real question - any recommendations? Thanks, Andree
