No matter where you are, a place is what you make it. If you like the place you're leaving you'll probably like the place you're going.

I was born in Midland and grew up in Big Spring, Seminole, and Abilene. I did not find west Texas objectionable. In fact, if you learn how to focus properly, you'll find there are indeed good points.

After leaving Texas, I lived all over the world with the greatest amount of time in Hawaii. I moved from Hawaii to northern Maine in 1999. Everyone says I did it backwards, but I find Maine delightful .... even in the winter (which is most of the time).

Sorry I can't offer advice as my info is from the '50s and is ... er ... a bit dated.
