Do you guys happen to get the show Kommissar Rex (Inspector Rex) on any
US TV? 
It's an Austrian show about a German Shepard police dog and his
sidekick, the detective. The dog they use is obviously very clever and a
great actor.
We get the show here on the free-to-air multicultural channel SBS.

Now the show is a lot of fun, especially if you like dogs as I do but
the myriad of VWs to be seen during the show by the trained observer
makes it all the more worthwhile...

Last night's episode included a bay window bus, a Beetle cabriolet, a LT
3.5 prisoner van (the older model that looks like a T3 on steroids but
still using bay window tail lights), T3s in street scenes, a T4 police
wagon, an early Passat 
fastback and numerous Golfs and early Polos. This show is quite recent
however I was surprised by the number of earlier model VWs still
apparently on the roads in Austria.

Anyway, keep a look out for the show if it ever gets aired (unless you
hate subtitles) More Vows to spot than the Tour de France...

Another recent airing on the same channel was the Russian movie "Day of
the Full Moon" that featured a "killer" T3.
A bunch of Russian assassins used a sunroof model, cream over green 1.9L
van with one headlight missing to chase, round up and kill chaps they
appeared to have a problem with....An interesting movie despite the
violence made even better by the VW content...;)
