Subject: Automatic window problem in '89 Vanagon . . .

Help! My passenger-side window is down and can't get up. I've tried taking the motor out (following instructions in Bentley), but there is no way it's gonna come out and I can't raise the window manually with the motor in place. Does anyone know how to 'hot wire' the motor, bypassing the switch. I just want to get the window closed so I can take some time to consider my options. Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.

P.S. This van just made a 4000 mile round-trip from Boston to St.John's NFLND without a problem; once home, the exhaust system self- destructs, it starts leaking oil like a Texas blow-out and the window stops working. What next?
