I put one of those on my Datsun 280Z coup.  It is looking for a twin magnet
setup on the drive shaft (half shaft on a vanagon) with an external pickup
that senses the two magnets.  the magnets are held on with strapping tape
and are on opposite sides of the shaft from each other for balance and even
signal generation of 2 pulses per revolution.
