While you're entering Florida, I'd suggest taking A1A through Amelia Island -- it's the first town on the road. There's great camping in Ft. Clinch state park on the north end of the island and other options on the south end. Lotsa $$ here, but still a nice place to visit and not covered in sprawl. Other places I'm fond of: The outer banks (southern end) and pretty much anywhere else in NC, especially the moutains. john > Make sure you check out St. Augustine Florida. Oldest city in the United > States, plus there is a cool fort called Castillo De San Marcos. It is an > old Spanish military base from when Florida was under Spain's control. |
