I went to access the main battery under the passenger seat on my 84 Westy today. The Owner's Manual tells me to slide the seat forward all the way. When I do so, I find I can remove the bit of carpet that is folded over the rear portion of the seat pedestal. I find a black metal cover plate with four Philips screws. The two rearmost screws are easily removed. However, the foremost two are well-covered by the lower portion of the seat's "lazy susan" thingy. There's no way to access the screw heads. So I'm sitting here, looking at this and wondering if I am too simple to be allowed to drive or something? -- Mike "Rocket J Squirrel" Elliott 71 VW Type 2 / 84 Westy: A poor but proud race. KG6RCR |
