This past week I sort of mixed the DIY vs Shope Rates when I took my van to my mechanic's (Jeff) shope and I took 3 days to remove & re-install the dash to put in a new blower motor and heater core. It was my first attempt at this and at some critical junctures Jeff was there to help. I needed a new Mater Brake Cylindar and it took him about 20 minutes to do that and a new Master Clutch Cylindar while the dash was out. Not all mecahnics will let folks do a DIY in their parking lots, but as Jeff says: "you tear it apart and then when you can't get it back together, I'll just charge you double :-) " This time I got it back together, but with some help from Jeff.
