I recently had the fuel pump replaced on my vanagon weekender. It was buzzing and dealer said it would go bad soon (turns out it was just clogged since the new one buzzed AND stalled). Needless to say, I didn't pay for the new fuel pump. My vanagon now feels very strange in gear shifts and upon releasing accelerator at various speeds. Vanagon hops/shimmies (sometimes many times) after releasing accelerator and sometimes initial acceleration is not smooth -- a jerky feel if I release clutch too early. They've adjusted the allen wrench operated mixture setting to ensure against a too-rich or too-lean mix. But something's still not right. It's the feeling you normally get when running AC and driving in 1st gear when you suddenly release the accelerator at high RPMs. But it does it in every gear now -- even slightly in 4th gear. Can anyone shed some light on this? It's no longer fun to drive and I want my vanagon fun back! Thanks in advance. Kent Allen Yardley PA 1990 Weekender, 92k |
