My previous post wasn't really directed any anyone in particular, just the situation on ebay. Sounds like you're trying to work with the seller to find a common ground - much better than most others.

We bought our westy from a person in GA -- over 2 days away -- and before we committed were very nervous about not being about to test drive it before hand. Seller was real nice, however and we agreed on a very small deposit to hold the van and if we did not want/like it after we got down there he'd keep the deposit and I'd go home. Suffice to say, the van was exactly how he described it and it's been a member of the family since.
