A cd changer fits very well under the seat. Although mine was under the passenger seat in my 86 GL (before it burned down) Under the drivers seat I had all my small spare parts. There was a little plastic box with all the spare bulbs, fuses, headlight bulbs, relays, resistors, switches, etc. I also kept a cap & rotor, spark plugs, wires, a fuel pump, ignition coil, idle stabilizer relay, some razor blades, duct tape(very important), bungee cords, hose clamps, a spare head gasket, a tube of gasket sealant, window cranks, door handles, dome lights, heater control knobs, a spare dash clock, alternator belt, coolant temp sensor, and maybe a few other things. Under the back seat I had 4 gallons of water, a super funnel, various hoses and wires, and a few spare parts on one side, and my tool box which fit right in on the other side.

Yes, I was prepared for ALMOST anything....

There's a perfect spot to mound a fire extinguisher right next to the side sliding door. Of course I don't think I need to worry about that too much now that I have a diesel. And there's nothing under my seats right now. I'll have to start a collection of spare diesel parts soon.
