I actually sold my '92 Passat to a couple from the suburbs of Boston after I bought my '85 Vanagon. But I was very careful to reveal all the cars warts and scars--and even at only 65,000 miles, there were plenty. The '92 Passat just wasn't a stellar vehicle (and the '96 Passat I have now is sadly not that much different). But I didn't want them to have any surprises when I met them at Dulles Airport (I agreed to drive the car to DC, the agreed to fly down to pick it up) and I certainly didn't want the embarassment of feeling "caught."

I got Christmas cards from them for several years after buying the car--it went very well.

I don't have a huge burning issues to have another Vanagon. I mean, I plan on keeping the one I have--but Iowa has taken it's toll on its appearance. But now I think I'll use the $2300 for banging out some dents, sanding downs some rust spots, and new paint (or at least use that money TOWARD that goal).

Now I just hope this guy doesn't decide to get nasty and send the EBAY gestapo after me :-)
