Subject: Suggestions on new paint
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

Hi folks,

I've decided to get my '83.5 camper repainted! Right now it is the stock '83/'84 vanagon two-tone blue. I've pretty much decided that I want to get it done in one color, a dark blue of some sort, nothing too flashy.

I like some of the dark blue that i've seen on the ~2000 model year VW's, but i don't know what the code or actual name is. I don't have a huge budget, and I'm thinking that many of the newer clearcoat and metallic paints will probably be more expensive unfortunately...but I would like to give my van a more modern look.

If anyone has any suggestions on specific colors or other things i should watch out for at paint/body shops, I would really appreciate you sharing them...I've never gotten a vehicle repainted before, but have done a bunch of research already.

I am in the San Francisco Bay Area, so if anyone has specific shop recommendations, that would also be most helpful.

thanks all! will definitely share some pics when all is said and done.

-James '83.5 Country Homes Camper
