You can see photos of what I did on my vanagon on the attached photo. Snaps are available at an upholstery place for about $5 each or less. I used the existing snaps by the door and replaced roof header screws with snaps. The pout the female snap part into a large towel. I safety pin another towel to the one at the top for lower visual privacy.
