Subject: Bosal rear trailer hitch and bumper
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

Anyone get one of these? I have a customer that bought one from The Bus Depot and there were no instructions. No possible configuration of the brackets will make it fit right or even line up with the holes in the bumper. It cant be that hard and I dont really want to cut up the bumper and make my own brackets for it.

I called the Bus Depot about this product and they said that he (the guy I talked to) had never installed one and could not help me. To add insult to injury he stated "The instructions provided are simple enough that any VW mechanic can install this kit". I didnt really appreciate that coming from someone in "technical" support who had never installed one before. It was then suggested that I search the Vanagon.com archives for instructions.

the kit came with a very poorly drawn up illustration and instructions to put the bolts in and cut the bumper, then install the brackets, then install the bumper assy into the car. and there was a packing list on the right side of the paper.

Its probably what Bosal put in with the tow hitch. Bosal is not exactly known for making good exhaust parts and it is evident from the need to cut the body to line up with the rearmost bolt for the hitch that they arent very good at tow hitches either. We obviously dont need to talk about instructions ;)

Thanks for listening to my rant, I searched the archives and came up with nothing. Anyone know the answer or maybe someone who has done it?
