Since this thread isn't completely dead - With all the comments about food storage no one mentioned covering coolers/ice chests with a blanket or tarp. Having been "beared" once, I know they love V8 juice and bacon but aren't too keen on wine or beer (at least my cheap variety) - that cooler was outside. We now camp with two chests inside the Westy at night but covered - with cooking pot and big spoon at the ready. No trouble since they've been covered though. The Sierra bears know ice chests - even in the remote camps - if you're going to put them up top wrap them in a tarp - if a bear sees a cooler it's a goner. In the June Lakes area they have bear boxes that hold two ice chests - good setup - until the bears figure out those new "bearproof" latches.
