Charley was quite a storm, we lost a lot of trees in my neighborhood but were very fortunate, no one was hurt and the amount of property damage was minimal. The two very large, old pine trees in my front yard both came down but fell away from the house and across the street. The Wanderlodge was supposed to be parked there, but I decided to leave it in storage. I went out to check on it Saturday afternoon and its in good shape. Unfortunately, with the large piles of brush in my neighborhood and in front of my house, I wasn't able to bring it home.
We spent most of the day Saturday moving all the trees that blocked the streets in the neighborhood and putting fences back up. We have no power and probably won't get any until later in the week. We have water and sewer and they finally have most of the traffic lights working at the major intersections so driving has gotten a lot safer.
Most of the businesses in my area are still closed, I spent an hour looking for gas on Sunday morning. We drove to Clermont (30 miles) to get ice for our neighbors last night, but some is finally becoming available locally. Schools are closed until Wednesday, my daughters school cafeteria is missing the roof so she might be out longer.
We can't complain though, my neighbor set up his canopy, his patio table and grill in his driveway and we have been cooking, eating and drinking outside with any of the neighbors that happen by. The weather is staying pretty mild, we have had a large thunderstorm each afternoon which pulls most of the humidity out of the air and cools everything down so its actually pretty pleasant in the afternoon/evening hours which is pretty strange for August in Florida.
Anyway, I am back at work today and will be here for the remainder of the week. I still need to take care of the stump of one pine tree and all of another tree (36" diameter) so if anyone can help with a tree service that can handle a large tree, let me know, its too large for my neighbors and I to handle on our own.
Again, we are all well and surviving and I hope all of you are as well.
Thanks,
Tim
