Malcolm,

If you are going to do that, take care to leave the brake shoes and pads away from the oil as they will seep into the friction material. Squeaks and possibly delamination of the material may occur w/ prolonged imersion into the oily substance. Ironically, the oil soaked pads will probably cause squeaking as they dry out should they survive the soaking over the winter.
