But definitely don't try to drive through Freeport and the neighboring town
on Rte 1 during the day in August.  You will be stuck in traffic for hours
and hours.  It is an utter nightmare.  I tried to do it last summer.  Bad
move.

When I was in grad school in the Boston area twenty years ago, every now and
then we'd all get silly and someone would yell "Bean Run!" and then we'd all
pile into whatever car was available (most of us didn't have cars) and drive
two hours to LL Bean to go shopping in the middle of the night.  It was
great fun. (Yaah, even nerdy MIT grad students get silly sometimes...)
