Subject: Not the usual trip odometer problem
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Well, at least I don't think it's the usual problem. For starters it still works.

Last time I reset it the button stayed in but the trip odometer kept rolling. Now my mechanic was fooling around with it after this came up because my speedometer was making noise after having the wheels pulled off. The odometer reset button popped out and I suspect didn't get aligned with the opening properly, possibly resulting in the speedo cluster breaking at the two screws where its connected at the top. Hopefully this is a coincidence and not some goof my mechanic didn't own up to. So to sum up:

My trip odometer works but won't reset, and The cluster won't fasten properly to the housing.

What to do?

Oh, and why is there circuitry running to the speedometer? I thought it was solely a mechanical unit.

Last but not least I never reset the odometer while moving, myth or not.

Thanks again Jeff 85 Westfalia GL
