Subject:      adjusting idle on 1.9

i was trying to adjust the idle on a 1.9 today and wasn't having much
success.  i had the idle screw all the way backed out and i couldn't get
above 1000 rpms.  right now the idle is hanging around 800-825 and the
idle seems real choppy to me.  some additional information is that the
throttle body has some light scraping on the bottom where the butterfly
plate is starting to scrape on the throttle body housing.  this is also
an automatic and i haven't played with automatics before.  any ideas and
information that you can provide is appreciated.
