Subject: Auto tranny slipping
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii; format=flowed

(I searched the archives and didn't find much on this, which seems wrong, maybe badly-worded searches.)

The automatic tranny on this 84 Vanagon seems to do a lot of whining and slipping going from first to second. Something needs to be tightened or something (all I know about automatic transmission noise like this I learned in 1966 from a Peter, Paul and Mary rendition of "car-car" where such sounds were described as being due to loose bands . . . whatever those are).

Will the local transmission guy shake his head and quote a breathtaking amount of money?

Apologies if this has been asked and answered a lot.
